Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer

I've been building software for over 7 years. In that time I've had the opportunity to learn/teach many different programming languages and frameworks. I'm very aware of the difficulties people face when learning how to code; I've experienced them myself. As an undergraduate teaching assistant, I helped students gain mastery through detailed explanations and fun, hands-on examples. As a Senior Software Engineer (my current role), I've helped Junior Engineers gain confidence by giving them tools and techniques to make them more effective problem solvers.

Contrary to popular belief, programming is not difficult; it's actually fun and exciting, just like any other creative endeavor. An Artist has a canvas, a Sculptor has a chisel and a Programmer has code. Whatever your goals might be, we can achieve them together.

I've built backend systems and open source libraries with Node.js. I've actually used Node.js way more than any other programming language or framework, mostly because I've worked in many roles that required it, but I also really enjoy building Node.js apps.

I built backend systems with Java at my previous Job at Toast Inc. I was also a teaching assistant for both of the Java courses in the IT Java sequence at Rochester Institute of Technology. In the one course, I helped the students understand Object Oriented Programming concepts and basic, general, programming concepts like loops, If statements, basic data structures and Exceptions. In the other course I helped them deal with more complex topics like Networking, Multithreading, Generics and Graphics.
