I've worked on over a dozen different Rails applications now, including a high traffic (10mil+ users) Rails dating site. I've decomposed pieces of Rails apps towards the Service Oriented Architecture model as well as using job queues like Delayed Job, Resque, and Sidekiq to offload long running tasks. I developed a rank tracking application (ranktracker.io) singlehandedly in about 3 months built on Rails that currently handles 10k keyword lookups a day. I've got a lot of experience with payment processing via Stripe on Rails, integrating it with 5 different projects now, including subscription and one-off purchases. I've contributed to Koudoku, a gem for easily integrating Stripe subscriptions into Rails. I've also contributed to ActiveSupport, adding functionality so that the cache can take advantage of advanced features in Redis such as setting a TTL expiry date or duration.

In addition to my Rails experience, I've written various programs such as distributed web crawlers and real estate comparison software in Ruby.

Ran and sold a production Meteor app with paying users at authoritymetrics.com (bought by a competitor, Long Tail Pro). I've got extensive experience performance optimizing Meteor applications to display, filter, and process large collections, often leveraging distributed workers to parallelize computations.

I started an SEO company that grossed over $75k/month: nohatmedia.com I've done SEO for my own sites and my clients since 2008, even living off of the income from various affiliate sites for outdoor gear for three years. I specialize in on-page optimization techniques and outreach for getting organic backlinks.

In addition to the standard Git Flow repertoire, I've used git submodules in various projects (including some from Mozilla!) to manage disparate codebases, know how to stash/apply like a champ, and handled some hairy merges.

Have run most of my applications on Heroku but also know when not to use the platform (mostly Meteor). Have experience with demand-based autoscaling of dynos to help save on costs. Migrated multiple production sites over from other hosts to Heroku.
