Set the standard for documentation at the company. Laid groundwork for compliance auditing. Developed change-management process. Leveraged GitHub to provide a trusted-third-party with automation driving the process. Migrated from manually-created Cloud resources to Infrastructure-as-Code. Built a number of critical subsystems in operations, infrastructure, and at an application-level. Took on jobs that nobody else would. Demonstrated that no problem is too big to fix. Pushed the envelope on infrastructure and data. Justified a team and built it. Was awarded "Be a Fixer" award after only working there for 4th months. Won trophy from privacy team for "going above and beyond to protect our customers' data". Implemented many firsts for Brex, including: - First Web Application Firewall - First Authentication Throttling Implementation - First Sanctions Blocks - Worked with security to fill in Infrastructure information for first SOC2 Certification Provided critical knowledge in infrastructure teams, doing significant Terraform and Kubernetes work. Imported and adapted many manually configured resources into Infrastructure-as-Code paradigm. Architected and implemented automatic database maintenance and policy engine for over 1,800 PostgreSQL databases. Extended it to automatically drive Kafka streams (via Debezium) for a number of core business infrastructure logic. Worked with stakeholders across the company to re-implement Card Dispute Tracking to keep up with scaling issues. Diagnosed scaling issues with initial Dispute Tracking. Extracted requirements for its successor. Delivered highly-available, performant solution that was complete from Database to Card Network to Operations UI. Provided critical database tuning knowledge to teams across the company. Developed innovative "in-database" migrations to drive a 300x speed-up in large data migrations. Wrote documentation to provide context and information on query tuning and database architecture for the rest of the company. Made the case for a database team; developed team charter; provided critical support to hire manager and team members; and acted as first tech lead.

Worked with a world-class team to build, maintain, and operate the infrastructure underlying the world's leading email authentication platform. Rearchitected logging and infrastructure-as-code implementations. Developed database management and migration tools for PostgreSQL at scale. Shepherded a live migration from Redshift into PostgreSQL when moving a subsystem from an OLAP to OLTP model. Provided critical support to SOC2 certification for infrastructure team. Prepared well enough for second audit that we finished two days early.
