I spent a year as a professional Rails developer and have two deployed Ruby webapps of my own as well as an open-source plugin for Fastlane.

I've been writing C and C++ since 1992 and have taken my C++ to a very high level. I've built countless server apps and libraries in C and C++. I'm especially good at concurrency, I/O and optimization. I also use C++ and Objective-C++ extensively in one of my own iOS apps (an audio player).

I've been writing Objective-C since 2011, when I published my first iOS app. I spent a year professionally on a team that was responsible for iOS and Android SDKs and another year and a half developing and maintaining a number of apps professionally. New work was all in Swift, but there was also a lot of Objective-C. I've done quite a bit of Objective-C++ work in one of my own apps as well.

A colleague once called me a shell Ninja. I'm extremely proficient at the Unix command line. I've done quite a lot of scripting with the Bourne and C shells. I haven't done much Bash scripting, however.

I've been working with Nginx to deploy Rails webapps with Passenger since I launched Dubsar, my dictionary app, in the fall of 2010. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I have a lot of practical experience. In recent years I have particularly spent time improving the security of my deployments.

As a C/C++ developer, I've worked with Makefiles almost as long as I can remember. For the last seven years or so I've almost exclusively used GNU autoconf and/or automake when working with Makefiles.

I've been working with Swift since it first came out, including a recent year-and-a-half professional stint building apps that were primarily written in Swift. I have two Swift apps of my own in the App Store and there are two more I built and/or worked on professionally.
