I started learning to program when I was 10 years old, and have had a passion for it ever since. As an adult, I've worked for a variety of companies developing robust and secure business applications and system-to-system interfaces for government agencies and financial services companies. I now work for a unicorn tech company as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, having acquired my masters in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. Through my work experience, I have gained extensive application development expertise and specialized knowledge in network/socket programming, graphics and UI programming, web services programming, secure application design, data analysis, and machine learning.

Back in 2002/2003, I participated in a Web Services contest for college students hosted by Microsoft. As such, I was among the first people to receive a copy of C#/.NET and the development tools that went along with it. C# has since been my main programming language in my 12+ year software development career. I also worked on a number of database migration projects that involved analyzing, cleaning, and transforming data from a legacy database into a new database schema. Five years ago I taught myself Scala, as it had language features I was seeking for an experimental API I was working on. Since then, it has become my favorite programming language, and I use it for most of my personal projects. Among other things, I've used the scala play framework to develop a website for sharing, searching, and rating ESL lesson planning resources.

Another awesome session with Kevin. I have been studying SQL Server now for a while and I needed some real world insights into projects. Kevin walked me through some of the projects he's done, including some of the challenges and learning points. Very information session.
