I am a Lecturer in Data Science at a major UK university, where I teach topics across the Data Science curriculum and supervise research students. I enjoy teaching and am particularly passionate about teaching statistics and data-science; AI is rapidly reshaping how work is done, including in academia, and data-literacy is vital to the students and workers of today. I look forward to the chance to mentor a wider cross section of data professionals. I have 10+ years of experience in data science and software development for scientific research in astrophysics, as well as 3 years of instrument-support experience at ESO, Europe's largest observatory. I exploit machine-learning approaches to accelerate inference under very expensive models, allowing me to analyse large samples even when models require minutes of computing time. I use these tools to study the properties of interstellar dust and its roles in galaxy evolution, star formation, and stellar mass loss.
