I started using for my own web sites in about 2000. In the year 2007, I started creating a CMS. Some (not all) of the code for the CMS is on github. I wanted to get away from the monolithic architecture that can be seen in projects like Drupal. So, I started creating web app interfaces that relied more heavily on JavaScript and DHTML. Shortly after, I came across node.js, I started using node.js for in place of shell scripting and for doing projects. I am planning to us it more and more.

I started using the STL in 2000. This was in conjunction with a private linux device driver, and also with an AI project. For the device driver project, I wrote a small text DB to complement the device driver. For the AI project, I wrote an extensive application in C++. The program made movies at the drop of a suggestion. For example, if you said "Paris, France" it would make a presentation about "Paris, France". It scraped media repositories that used semantic tags. It ran evolutionary competitions between media vying to own slots in the presentation. It called up CLIPS for operations on media and presentation structure. It output the media in FLASH. I also wrote a small C++ server for a MOG. And, I have used it professionally on other occasions as well.

C was the first language I used out of college as a research assistant in a top computer science school. I used it for a variety of projects. Some were on real time OS's. One device driver project. One project handled a kind of type/language resolution system. And, I started writing components for scripting languages.

I have known about node.js since its inception. I have used it for streaming. And, I started to work with embedded systems using node.js. In the last year, I used it professionally for streaming graph theoretic pictures to D3 presentations.

I have worked with the client/server model since I was a research assistant. I wrote programs to record speech and send them across internet lines. Later, I wrote servers to provide sensing and effect on real time systems. These worked with AI systems. These systems used C and LISP. Clients were physical interfaces, and the server fielded and processed the data. I have written servers in C, C++, Java, Delphi, node.js, etc.

I learned AI at Carnegie-Mellon University. I took undergraduate and graduate courses. I worked in AI groups associated with NASA contracting agencies. For AI, I have programmed in C,C++ and LISP and CLIPS. I learned of planning systems, symbolic systems, and signal processing systems. More on how the symbolic and numerical systems interact. These days, more people are interested in ANN and HMM. I can shed some light on those. My own work is more related to a mixture of evolutionary computation and symbolic processing. This summer I earned a certificate from Columbia University via EdX in AI and Robotics.

I have always had some need to know about some kind of algorithm in every project that I have done. This year, I have been solving problems on HackerRank. As a result, I have been forced to go through a review of algorithms. This has been a good exercise. Now, I am interested in doing some work with parallel algorithms.
