Transitioning from building monolithic applications for small / mid-sized companies was not easy. I had to spend almost a year on mapping and catching up with the tech stack that the industry was requiring and adapt to the micro-services / distributed systems paradigm. After working for more than a year for a large sized tech company, I shifted my goals. In the long term, I wish to qualify myself as a modern web platform architect in order to create highly available environments with development patterns that would be logical for the teams to adopt. In the short term perspective, I’d still have a long way to go, working as a full stack web developer to acquire the necessary knowledge in order to continue on my journey. As for the types of business, I have interest in well established companies that works with multiple teams and mature agile management. However, I’m also fond of small / mid-sized start-ups where we may contribute in different areas and help build our own process – very exciting. I’m in search of an opportunity where I’d be part of a multi-disciplined team, learn from each other, produce great work that we can be proud of and still have fun on the way! Watch my video presentation (last update 2021): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mf8wTojoTWE **Takeaways:** - I had the opportunity to live abroad in the US and Europe during my childhood/teens; - Initial university course in Industrial Design and graduation (incomplete) in Art Direction for Film /TV; - Shifted to web development at around 2004; - Worked as a freelancer for about 20 years, but built my own company in 2011, handling all aspects of the projects (design, product, development, hosting environments, Google Ads) in various programming languages and frameworks; - Built my own framework from scratch in classic ASP, .NET/SQL Server, PHP/MySQL, node/react/MySQL, PHP/Laravel/MySQL (WIP); - Almost 2 years working in a US based near shore outsourcing company (4,000 employees); - Allocated for approximately the same period in a US based mid-sized venture capital tech company (over 3,000 employees), which is focused on publishing content for specific niches; Born in Brazil, however, I lived in New York, USA, from 1986 to 1989 and in Frankfurt, Germany from 1992 to 1993. I returned to Rio de Janeiro in 1993 to continue my academic trajectory. After I created my tech company, decided to move to São Paulo, were I’m living since 2013. Graduation in Industrial Design - Graphic Design by UniverCidade, former Faculdade da Cidade. The university course helped me create a basis for design methodology and design research. After completing it in 2001, I directed my interest in programming languages focused on the web environment and database structuring. Continuous study of new languages is necessary to keep up with the industry’s demands and constant tech changes. During these 20 years in the segment, I also gained marketing knowledge by working together with corporate marketing departments and agencies. The graduate course in Art Direction for Film and TV, attended in 2008, helped enrich my ability in project planning and developed my methodology for the creative area and concept consolidation. At the end of 2012, I began to evaluate the market for project development in São Paulo, as I was feeling a retraction in Rio de Janeiro’s market. Aside demands for web projects being higher, I also noticed that the city itself offered better conditions for residence, and, at the same time, Rio was beginning to show declines in life quality. So, in late 2013, I decided to move to São Paulo and work with my company, just as I had been doing in Rio. During the 2020 pandemic, with all the instability and uncertainty around how small and medium business were being affected, I decided to pivot my career towards working for tech companies instead of as a freelancer-like web services provider. It had been on my plans to do so at some point ahead. However, with the extra time available to catch up on some of the tech stack that was being required by the industry, I decided to give it a shot and, since remote working was being widely adopted, I also aimed for working internationally – US or Europe based companies. I landed a position at BairesDev, a nearshore outsourcing tech human resources, with headquarters in California as a PHP full stack web developer. The company is specialized in managing tech workforce in Latin America, so the transition was pretty smooth. They allocated me in a large Venture Capital IT company, responsible for a few worldwide known digital publishing platforms and I’m currently working in a horizontal team, for one of their businesses. My main attribute is to develop multidisciplinary works in various media and understanding of the technological requirements of each project.

I'm a geek and an entrepreneur that takes pride in solving tasks elegantly within set limitations. I have had my own share of achievements and challenges with my own businesses and projects in my 16+ years as a developer. I love working with others and sharing and expanding my knowledge, which is why I'm excited to share my expertise as a mentor, colleague or consultant on your project. /**  * Technologies I work with but not limited to.  * @return a well-equipped toolbox  */ - PHP (all versions), expert level (I write PSR-2 style) - JavaScript in multiple flavors (ES6, TypeScript, CoffeeScript, etc), expert level - In varying degrees: Go, Python, Java, Elm, Elixir. I can switch between languages and language styles, and explicitly make use of design patterns - Frameworks that I use but am not limited to: Laravel; Vue.js, React, Angular 1+2, and Knockout.js. I quickly adapt to a new framework as I am able to quickly grasp the key concepts and I usually go directly to reading the code. - Databases and servers locally and in the cloud. I've done a lot of DevOps with AWS, Digital Ocean, etc. Tools: Ansible, Docker, Terraform, MySQL, MongoDB, etc. - I predominantly use Linux-based environments and I am an avid Vim user. I contribute to the open-source community (publish and make PRs) and in general, I'm visible on developer communities on Slack, Gitter, Stack Overflow, etc. I mastered in dynamic and open narratives in multi-player/agent games—a subject I still find use for in other work in terms of first order logic, automatons, and the formalization of information knowledge. I've worked remotely for over 9 years now and I’m well aware of the challenges and advantages of not being in the same office or time zone as that of my clients. The key points are clarity of communication and that the distance forces you to explicitly think through what your goals and requirements are. /**  * Why you should work with me.  * @return high-quality delivery  */ - I write elegant and efficient code. I believe in concise and readable code over documentation. - I take pride in delivering solid work and I naturally develop a sense of ownership. Thus, when your project succeeds, it will be a success for me as well. - I am honest about expectations. Software estimates are hard. Several smaller deliveries are better than a monstrous roll-out that might never take place due to lack of funds or lost opportunity. - I am currently based in Manila, Philippines (GMT +8) but I can easily adapt my schedule to yours and come up with a suitable working arrangement with you as my client. https://www.codeboutique.com

Personalized Alpine.js mentoring through Codementor offers a unique and effective learning approach compared to traditional classroom learning, particularly in these key aspects:

  • Customized content: Personalized mentoring adapts the learning material and pace specifically to your needs and skill level. This means the sessions can focus on areas where you need the most help or interest, unlike classroom settings which follow a fixed curriculum for all students.
  • One-on-one attention: With personalized mentoring, you receive the undivided attention of the tutor. This allows for immediate feedback and detailed explanations, ensuring that no questions are left unanswered, and concepts are fully understood.
  • Flexible scheduling: Personalized mentoring is arranged around your schedule, providing the flexibility to learn at times that are most convenient for you. This is often not possible in traditional classroom settings, which operate on a fixed schedule.
  • Pace of learning: In personalized mentoring, the pace can be adjusted according to how quickly or slowly you grasp new concepts. This custom pacing can significantly enhance the learning experience, as opposed to a classroom environment where the pace is set and may not align with every student’s learning speed.
  • Practical, hands-on learning: Mentors can provide more practical, hands-on learning experiences tailored to real-world applications. This direct application of skills is often more limited in classroom settings due to the general nature of the curriculum and the number of students involved.

Personalized mentoring thus provides a more tailored, flexible, and intensive learning experience, making it ideal for those who seek a focused and practical approach to mastering Alpine.js.
